Is brazilian jiu jitsu overrated? - bjj is overrated

I know that 90% of all fights end up on the floor, I know that BJJ practitioners do well on the ground, but as feared fighting for?

I agree with the general consensus here. I was a guard of 17 years and believe me the last place you stop on the field. Well, that is, said yes, there are many end of the fighting. But much of it attributable to one or both fighters can not fight / escape.

Any type of ground combat is good and important, but I have never tried to take him to the ground. For example, are, in a nightclub when a fight breaks out and you get one or two things are almost always bound to happen:

1) fell in the scuffle bottles and glasses on the ground change, you can reduce or even impale you, as I have seen. (Not to mention spit, vomit, blood, etc. ..)

2) With all the little children fear that there are these days, hard as a gUys, who rarely, if ever, in a very "honorable" to fight with only one "man". Thus, while in the ring BJJ can work well if you get into a fight in the real world, and to go fighting, "Bozo", and his 20 friends that you came on this evening, press and blow foot. (For the same reason, the guy who fought the most felt confident enough to tackle you, he knows he has all his son with him. When we met him in a lonely street, a man would be much better for you).

Bind in the fighting on land, one of the few things that is to do against multiple opponents in order to use the character, like a shield - that only works for so long. They will eventually his hands on his legs and beat silly.

The besthow to win a battle is awareness! Not only to know who is there, but the environment. Make can be used on the exit / escape routes, things that ground as weapons, etc. ..

You should try to avoid a controversy, but when they put to you, and you can not prevent, use what you can and fight against the weaknesses of the opponent ... If it takes too long to use the tactic to keep them in check. When a fighter Tae Kwon Do Wrap and out of their best weapons are the long-range kicks and punches. Do not fight hard - Fight Smart!

Hope that helps? May the force ... blah blah blah ...

I trained in Jeet Kune Do, Judo, Hopko, Aikido takwondo. And I was fighting a man who knew BJJ and Pend in 35 seconds. I am not impressed. When I was in a fight that will not even damage the hair.

colombianheaven,

overvalued, you can not saturated, 0)

I agree that JJB always a place in the fight, no matter how far you will progress in self-defense. It is a great art of presentation, in the defense. As a basic grip, I n my humble opinion, I would say that wrestling is always better, BJJ submission to the additional element changed (like from the street).

I know it is always easier to get belts, for example, I have a friend, a brother, were of his brown belt (a belt wide) in the posterior portion of the tape and less 31 / 2 years. It's sad, because in a real school of Jiu Jitsu, which take several years to complete, could reach that rank. I ride with guys who trained 7-9 years years before a brown belt (and they are great! When taking a few days to learn BJJMovement) was my favorite

In other words, beware of the black belt factory. Do not forget the struggles of 90%, with a standing start, and most people are aware of the forehead. Most have lower operating today in BJJ, but I know many who are not in the early '90s boom began rising to the position battle so far and have become one-dimensional fighter. Fighting today means that many lines of battle.

Am I afraid to fight? no ... I am respecting his ability, nay, 0) and I have enough support and respect the ability of each Humbel, but until they show that they do not deserve respect

The road is different from the ring. So I said, we should change (although the FBI, CIA and the Rangers train modified BJJ)

Good question!
